The nature of the film, and the budget, determine the size and type of crew
members used during filmmaking. The crew members range from a few hundreds
to a crew of less than ten. Here are some of the major principle
players in making a film.
- Film Producer: is involved in hiring the production team, and
report to the financial office of the Corporate Company.
- Film Producer works closely with the Film distributors during the
release time.
- Before the film release time, they may have a launch party, a red-carpet
premiere, press releases, interviews with the press, press preview
screenings, and film festival screenings.
- Film Director: is primarily responsible for the storytelling of the
film.
- Storyboard Artist: creates visual images to help the director and
production designers to communicate their ideas to the production team.
- Screenplay Writer: writes screenplays that are original works or
adaptations of novels. In the Screenplay, the movement, actions, expression,
and dialogues of the characters are narrated.
- Production Manager: manages the production budget and schedule.
- On Location Manager: finds and manages film locations, indoor or
outdoor sequences calls.
- Casting Manager: finds actors to fill the parts in the script;
manages the filming schedule and logistics of the production, among other
tasks.
- Actors, Actresses are professionals who are highly skilled in
portraying a character in a drama production.
- Many Cameo Roles are filled by extras or other professionals.
These are brief appearances or voice part of a known person in a work of
the performing arts.
- Production Designer: creates the visual conception of the film,
working with the Art Director.
- Art Designer: creates the artistic look and feel of the
production sets.
- Costume Designer: creates the costumes for the characters in the
films.
- Make Up and Hair Designer: works closely with the actors to
create a certain look for a character.
- Cinematographer: is the cameraman who takes the photography of the
film.
- Cinematographer may also be involved in lighting, lens choices,
composition, exposure, filtration of the film.
- When the film is ready to be edited, the cinematographer works closely
with the sound recorder to make film selection.
- Any computer-graphic visual effects are digitally added.
- Sound Designer: is the sound recorder who may be involved in sound
editing and mixing.
- The production sound (dialogue) is edited; sound effects are designed
and recorded.
- Music tracks and songs are composed and recorded if a film is sought to
have a score.
- Composer: is someone who is involved in musical composition,
songwriting and choreography (Musical).
- Choreographer: creates and coordinates the movement and dance -
typically for Musicals.
