Learn how to create a website, which contains many elements (hypertext markup language: html; client side scripts: javascripts, vbscripts; cascading style sheets: css; structured query language: sql; programming language: perl, java, vb, c++).

If you want a more developed website, there is much more to learn (server side scripts: php, asp, jsp; databases: Microsoft excel, Oracle database, Microsoft sql database, mysql database; data standards/data protocols: xml, dtd, xsl, xpath, rss, rdf).

Web Servers is usually a cluster of computers, with firewalls, storage/backups and routing protocols to deliver information on the World Wide Web (Internet, Intranet, Extranet, and Wifi). The Web servers needs to communicate on the same protocol (such as Hypertext Transfer Protocol: HTTP, Uniform Resource Locator: URL).

Web Applications, Web Services, Mobile Apps uses Java, JavaScript, DHTML, Flash, Silverlight and other technologies, application-specific methods such as drawing on the screen, playing audio, and accessing database and website, using a touchpad, a mouse or a keyboard.

Web Services Framework is a set of frameworks that builds the foundation of web services (think of firewall server, email server, ftp server, web server, web application server, database server) all requires different set of protocols and utilizes vastly different set of computer languages/platforms. Some common terms are: remote repository, SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol), REST (Representational State Transfer), push & pull, sync, web service API.

Web System Administrator is someone who is responsible for the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems; especially multi-user computers, such as servers.  Requires knowledge of operating systems and applications, as well as hardware and software troubleshooting.

Computer Science is a diverse field: you are either into coding languages, building systems, maintaining machines, routing and protocols, or studying to become a part of each.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uniform_resource_identifier
URI: a string of characters used to identify a name of a resource.
such as "http", "ftp", "mailto", "file"

URL: identifying a web resource, access mechanism and network location.
    such as http://en.wikipedia.org

URN:
identify a resource without implying its location or how to access it.
such as the International Standard Book Number (ISBN) urn:isbn:0-486-27557-4

Social media:
social media is a set of computer-mediated tools that allow people to create, share or exchange information, ideas, and pictures/videos in virtual communities and networks.

Social media uses many types of portable devices, portable wear, mobile phones, tablets:
includes such things as portable audio and video players, handheld computers, cameras, mobile phones, and various gadgets that combine these functions.

Wireless protocols and bandwidth:
Wireless Communication devices is constraint with the popular types of mobile devices and wireless protocols.

Content Management System (CMS) is a complexity management tool for digital resources. It provides an information infrastructure that integrates diverse digital contents and facilitates collaborative group work on the Web.  It is a database, template-driven web application that provides a greater control over the presentation of content.

As mass amount of information reaching to a level and size at which the information organization must undergo a fundamental change (not everyone can build a machine, set-up a web server, manage a website, or write a long document). CMS provides a solution to manage this complexity. As with any software, add-ons and external modules also require constant up-keep. It's expensive to build and expensive to maintain.

DOI is a Digital Object Identifier, currently used by publishers, data centers, movie studios, etc.
It provides an actionable, interoperable, persistent link.
It collects metadata, assign DOI names, and offer other services such as reference linking or metadata lookup.

CrossRef is an association of scholarly publishers that develops shared infrastructure to support more effective scholarly communications.

FRBR is a conceptual entity-relationship model - giving any abstracts that will contain a work of art, its expression and manifestation, and multiple copies.  This conceptual model also highlights the relationships among the affiliates & institutions that supervised, funded, created and recreated the work (converting a book into scripts into movies and plays), edited and re-edited (articles that carries information to be edited by news staff and re-edited by other agencies), published and republished (in paper, digital, word of mouth, popular item of the week), repurposed (deviation from the original source: such as this web tool page for Tony Leung, an actor on digital stage), distributed and redistributed through various channels (regional, state, global).

Domain registration is the process of acquiring a domain name from a domain name registrar.
